Support for Special Educational Needs
Miss De’ath is responsible for the co-ordination of Special Educational Needs throughout the School. It is her job to ensure that, as a school, we are following the Code of Practice as well as ensuring all practice in school is in line with our Special Educational Needs Policy.
Miss De’ath also liaises regularly with staff to ensure that children are given the most appropriate support/resources for their individual needs. A large part of Miss De’ath’s role is to work closely with external agencies to gain specialist advice and support for individual children. She also ensures that any requests for information on individual children are passed onto the relevant agencies and that parents are kept fully informed of this.
The support of pupils with SEN normally takes place within the classroom. Where there is a clearly identified need and after external agency assessment, additional support is allocated. We have a team of experienced teaching and learning assistants who provide invaluable support.
Pupils with Disabilities
The school admits pupils with disabilities subject to the admission arrangements. The site has been adapted to provide access for wheelchair users and the Governors are mindful to improve our facilities as necessary to ensure equal access and full participation for all pupils.

Gifted and Talented
When children are identified as Gifted or Talented, their needs are met by providing appropriate extension and enrichment work within the lesson. In Key Stages 1 and 2, pupils are set in ability groups for mathematics.
